A focus of our work is cooperative robotics. Numerous inexpensive robots can perform tasks that a single expensive robot cannot. Key to this work are novel technologies for robots to locate each other and novel algorithms for controlling the movement of the robots. The left video shows a swarm of robots moving through an obstacle course towards a goal, subject to physicomimetics control. Note how the swarm flows like a fluid around the obstacles. The right video shows our localization technology with several autonomous outdoor robots being used for moving convoy formations, collaborative pulling, uniform coverage, and chain formations. The right video shows how the addition of an obstacle avoidance module further enhances capability.
